Welcome to the Pleasant Peasant Cube!

This is a singleton cube that can support up to 8 players allowing for many unique decks and lots of replayability.

The format is focused on fun gameplay and rewards synergistic deck builds. Featuring many classic commons/uncommons from over the years of magic gameplay may be more powerful than expected if you have never played a budget cube before.

This cube contains the 10 2 colour guilds of Magic. Most colour pairs have a main theme and a soft theme as well. There are lots of overlapping strategies so that many cards are flexible and are powerful within several different archetypes.

Each archetype contains signpost uncommons to build around

What is an MTG Cube?

MTG Cube is a custom, curated set of Magic: The Gathering cards that players draft and play games with. Think of it like your own personalized Magic set, built from cards you select yourself. It’s a way to experience Magic in a fun, controlled, and often nostalgic format.

Key Concepts
  • Custom Card Pool: A Cube typically contains 360–720 cards chosen by the Cube's creator. These can be anything: powerful cards from Magic’s history, a specific theme (like tribal, artifacts, or multicolor), or even just the creator’s favorite cards.

  • Drafting: Players use the Cube to draft decks, similar to how you draft in Limited formats like Booster Draft. But instead of opening random booster packs, the Cube is divided into "packs" that are shuffled and dealt out.

  • Replayable & Flexible: Since you control the contents, the Cube offers endless replayability. You can change cards out over time, try new themes, or power levels. Some people build powered Cubes (with cards like the Power Nine), others build pauper Cubes (with only commons), and everything in between.

  • How a Cube Draft Works
Shuffle the Cube and make 15-card “booster packs.”
Each player drafts cards from these packs, picking one card at a time and passing the rest.
After drafting, players build 40-card decks from the cards they drafted.
You play matches against other players.

Why People Love Cube

  • Customization: You build the experience from the ground up.

  • Nostalgia & Variety: Play with classic or rare cards you love without needing to collect them all.

  • Skill-Testing: Cube drafting is considered one of the most skill-intensive and rewarding ways to play Magic.

  • Social & Fun: It’s great for game nights and lets you play a wide variety of Magic all from one box.

TL;DR
MTG Cube is a custom draft format where you and your friends draft and play using a hand-picked set of Magic cards. It’s highly customizable, endlessly replayable, and one of the most beloved ways to enjoy Magic.

Lands & Mana Fixing
  • Each 2 colour pair has 1 of their respective Guildgates available ie.

  • Each 2 colour pair also has 1 "Gain land" available ie.

  • To further support landfall triggers, splashing, and maybe even some 3 colour decks I have also included a few copies of Evolving wilds

The Jank Tank also includes several other unique lands that I thought would add some fun and power to the cube which you can check out under the full list of the cube.

Playstyle and Design

The Pleasant Peasant Cube does not include any game changing bombs. This is by design as the meta hopes to create powerful decks through synergy and good deck building. I have tried to make many of the cards flexible to work within many different archetypes so that the draft is more complex and will feel fresh after many drafts. Each colour contains a decent amount of removal/interaction so expect opponents to try to remove your threats!

Game times are around 10-20 minutes averaging around ~15. I wanted to make the games fast enough that aggro is playable but slow enough that midrange/control decks can excecute their game plans and set up value engines as well.

Cubes are ever evolving so cards will be changed frequently as my collection grows to up the power, change the meta and rebalance colours and archetypes as needed.

Thank you for checking out my cube! I Hope you enjoy!
