People complain about the state of MTG these days, especially the greater focus on Universes Beyond instead of their internally generated worlds. I don't disagree, but at the same time I also very much appreciate that a lot of the crossovers have been with things that I am a big fan of. Baldur's Gate 2 and Final Fantasy 7 were two of my favorite games, and the idea of creating a Cube that would be able to feature these two IP and also include classic MTG as I remember it from that period, this Cube is basically a time capsule of the nerdy stuff I loved from the 90s.
There is one custom card in this Cube, I took Imoen, Wily Trickster from the Arena HBG set and modified the card slightly to make it playable in this Cube. I didn't want initiative in the Cube so couldn't include the CLB version of Imoen, Mystic Trickster, but thought that she was too iconic of a BG character to leave out. I also have a version of Viconia, Drow Apostate with different art but did not modify the game text.
